NEW SHEARS

When I am out and about, I always have my eyes open for things that might be useful when I am working on the trees.  The other day, my daughter and I were at the local flea market (why do they call it that) and I happened across these shears.  Now mind you, they are not made by some fancy “bonsai” tool maker, but the look a lot like those that are.  At $6.50, I figured that I would at least give them a try.

I have been using them now for a couple of weeks and I must say that I am glad that I got them. They are smooth, very sharp, and have cut everything that I have put them up against, leaving a very smooth cut. Manufactured in China, I was skeptical about the quality of the steel. I have yet to notice any rust on them.

I hope to return to the flea market and pick up a couple of more pairs. So, if you are out and about, don’t be afraid to try out a new tool on your trees just because it does not have “bonsai” on the label, you just might be surprised how well it works.
