Bellingrath Gardens and Home Visit November 9, 2017
Last week, favorite minion and I visited Belligrath Gardens and Home. It is a very nice Garden, only a thirty minute drive from home, located in Theodore, Alabama on beautiful Fowl River. If you are in the area, it is well worth the visit. I have been to the garden may times, and I always marvel at the beauty of it all. If you would like to read more about the Garden, here's a link to their site.
The intent of the visit was to see the beautiful mums, especially the cascading ones, that they plant all over the grounds this time of the year. I guess I should have called or checked their site as the mums were not cooperating, most of the flower buds were still tight and there were not many to see. However, there was plenty of other beauty to behold. I have set up a few galleries on this page to share some of what we enjoyed. I tried to group like pictures together, so they are in no certain order as to how the garden is laid out.

The Fountain
As you make your way through the garden, you happen upon this magnificent fountain in the center of the rose garden. I could stand and watch the water that is cascading from it four hours. There is always something captivating about a fountain.
Orchids
There is a green house that has a variety of tropical plants growing in it, including orchids.
The Mermaid
There is a long path with a water flowing through the center leading to a mermaid fountain.
Camellias
The grounds are filled with camellias, some of them are very old. Quite a few of the sasanquas were blooming. Here's a few.
Bald and Pond Cypress
Throughout the grounds there are numerous bald and pond cypress, growing both in swamp and dry land conditions. Also, it is a nice place to see cypress knees, a feature that is unique to the species.
Miscellaneous Flowers
Eventhough it was late in the season, there were still a lot of flowers to be seen. The hot house was full of tropicals and there were various flowers throughout the garden.
